About the EOB

The osteopathy school EOB (Escola d’Osteopatia de Barcelona) was born 18 years ago with the purpose of offering the professionals a complete training program to practise as osteopaths in full ability.

The EOB reached an agreement 5 years ago with Pompeu Fabra University to work together in the Osteopathy Master’s degree, which increased the value and the recognition of the studies given in the centre. With a duration of 2 years and 120 credits, the Master’s degree allows the immersion of the student in the “osteopathic” reasoning and working with real patients in a clinic itself. The apprenticeships are supervised by mentors, which enhances the confidence of the students in their skills and it will allow them to open their own workplaces and to work autonomously once they finish their studies.

The EOB came to an agreement with the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) from the United Kingdom, worldwide recognised by its osteopathy studies. This organisation allows the professionals from United Kingdom to teach a course here and the EOB students to attend some training courses in the United Kingdom. The bond that links both centres enables to share points of view and scientific knowledge about osteopathy.

The osteopath and the treatment table: Interview with Mrs. Anna Montmany, the EOB’s manager.

Which are the main tools for an osteopath?
“The core tools in the osteopathy are two: the hands and the treatment table. The EOB is focused on the hands to become excellent. It is in our hands where we can find the knowledge, the sensitivity, the precision, the reliance and the safety; all of them are features that we want to be reflected on the treatment table. Having a good treatment table at osteopaths’ disposal is the key.” said Mrs. Montmany.

Which are the distinctive features for an osteopathic table?

“If we talk about attributes, an appropriate surface is needed to perform a vast range of different techniques. Some treatment tables are functional, those used for cranial or visceral manipulation, others are steadier and more comfortable for those specific structural manipulations or high-velocity adjustment techniques”.
Mrs. Montmany also states that the treatment table must be agile when going up and down as well as when changing the position. “Another important element is the minimum height reached by the treatment table to perform some of the techniques and/or manipulations which have been introduced lately following the current osteopathy trends.” said Mrs. Montmany.

Do you think the appearance of a treatment table is important?

Obviously the most important is functionality. After that there are many other appreciated features by osteopaths. One of these elements is the design and own personality of the treatment table and, in this case, Naggura responds to this by providing the product with an aesthetic value that has never seen before.

Mrs. Montmany emphasises the fact that osteopathy and physiotherapy centres gain more importance within the interior design and aesthetics. “We all like working in a nice place and for that reason, more and more, professionals invest in their workplaces to transform them into warm and welcoming centres. If besides a highly functional treatment table we can find a beautiful one, everything turns out perfect.

Naggura & EOB

The collaboration between our school and Naggura comes as a result of a conversation from the EOB clinic director, Mr. Òscar Hernández, and the representatives of the brand. Naggura and EOB agreed on lending a Naggura treatment table to make a quality test during some months and, at the same time, make the products from Berguedà region public to students and teachers. On one hand, the fact that Naggura attends our lessons and explains the couch functionalities and features is very important to let us know the professionals work and their needs. On the other hand, the producer has the opportunity to design, improve and test their treatment tables together with the end-user and this is very positive to develop a product totally adapted to its target public.

The same way, the EOB philosophy is growing thanks to the cooperation with other partners and we are clearly proud of doing so with a product made in our country; helping the autochthonous products to enjoy a great quality.
